Indian wrestler Rajender Kumar won the gold in the Greco-Roman 55kg category, defeating Pakistan's A. Hussain 11-0, at the Commonwealth Games here Wednesday.

India's Rushmi Chakravarthi shocked third seed Katie O'Brien of England 1-6, 7-6, 7-5 to enter the quarter-finals of the women's singles competition.

Australia scored once in each half to wear down India 2-1 for their second win in pool A of the women's hockey competition in the 19th Commonwealth Games, here on Wednesday.
Goals by Shelly Liddelow (12th) and Megan Rivers (60th) set up the Aussie win as the Indians, who had drawn 1-1 with Scotland, woke up to the task rather too late and Rani Rampal's strike in the 68th minute went in vain.

Indian shooter Omkar Singh won the gold in the 50 metre pistol event on the third day of competitions at the 2010 Commonwealth Games Wednesday.
2: 45 PM- CWG shooting: Noria, Sodhi win double trap silver
Junior world champion Asher Noria and world No.3 Ronjan Sodhi of India teamed up to win the silver in the men's pairs double trap shooting event at the Commonwealth Games here Wednesday. They missed the gold by one point.
Noria and Sodhi together shot 188 points.
Stevan Walton and Steven Scott of England bagged the gold with a total of 189 points, a new Games record.
Sodhi had a perfect 50 in the first and 45 in the second at the Karni Singh Shooting Range.
Noria shot a total of 93. Of this, 46 came in the first round and 47 in the second.
Walton shot 96 and Scott 93. They went past the record of 186 set by Australian Mark Russell and Craig Trembath in the 2006 Melbourne Games.
Malaysian pair of Benjamin Cheng Jie Khor (93) and Seng Chye Khor (92) got the bronze.

Canada struck early from a penalty stroke by Diana Roemer. But England fought back to score through Kate Walsh, Alex Danson (2) and Crista Cullen to hand Canada their second defeat.

Fkiri refused to shake hands with Anil after the bout and showed middle finger to officials after the rough bout.
During the bout, the Australian was cautioned twice, once for headbutting and then for slapping the Indian. Fkiri was booed by the crowd and later disqualified by the referee for indiscipline.
The Australian wrestler was denied the silver medal, which he would have picked up after losing to Anil Kumar.

The Hyderabadi marksman had earlier shot 600 out of 600 in the World Cup in Beijing in 2008. He had scored 10.5 in the final round to take his tally to 703.5. Abhinav Bindra, Gagan's partner in 10m air rifle (pairs ) finished second on 595, followed by Englishman James Huckle.
12:00 pm: Update - World champions Australia took just 14 minutes to shake off the early morning blues and then proceed to dismantle Scotland 9-0 to open their campaign in the men's hockey competition of the Commonwealth Games on a strong note here Wednesday.Playing the Scots for the first time, the Aussies overcame initial rustiness and got going with goals from Luke Doerner (3), Chris Ciriello (2), Rob Hammond, Trent Mitton, Simon Orchard and Des Abboott.
Australian skipper Jamie Dwyer said 'It is tough of course to play at 8.30 in the morning, but it goes for every other team. There were some patches we didn't play well, but against India tomorrow (Thursday), we need to play well for the entire 70 minutes,' he said.
With day three well in swing, the action is beginning to pick up. India will be looking at the shooters and lifters to increase the medal tally today as well.

India continues to look strong in badminton but the main issue for the day is the low spectator turn-out. With as few as a 100 seats out of 60,000 being occupied for some events yesterday, viewer apathy has become a major issue for the organisers and the broadcasters.
The thrilling India - Australia Test match has been given as the main reason behind low spectator turn-out yesterday. It is yet to be seen if today will turn-out to be any different.
