CWG shooting: Rahi, Anisa win 2nd gold for India

New Delhi, Oct 5 : Shooters Rahi Sarnobat and Anisa Sayyed gave India its second gold as they won in the Commonwealth Games women's 25 metre pistol pairs event at the Karni Singh range here today.

Sarnobat and Sayyed shot an impressive 1158 to finish ahead of Australia's Lalita Yauhleuskaya and Linda Ryan (1148) and England's Gorgs Geikie and Julia Lydall (1122) in the event.

The Indians score breaks the previous Games record, set by Yauhleuskaya and Ryan in Manchester in 2002.

The Delhi 2010 is Sarnobat's first attempt at multi-discipline sporting event and the gold proved that she is here to stay.

''We did not expect to hit a world record. We are very happy and excited. Shooting in front of the home crowd has an added benefit but again, the pressure was intense and the competition was tough from Australia, ''Anisa and Rahi said after the event.
