Mohali: Statistical highlights after the fifth day of India-Australia Test match in Mohali:

·  Sachin Tendulkar, the only player to score 1,000 runs in Test matches this year, is the first batsman to complete 1,000 runs or more in this format of the game in a calendar year six times.

·  Tendulkar’s runs’ tally in 2010 is 1003 at an average of 83.58 in eight Tests. His tally includes five hundreds and three fifties.

·  Doug Bollinger (3/32) has produced his best bowling effort against India.

·  Ishant Sharma, who scored 31 of 92 balls during a match-winning partnership with VVS Laxman, has emulated his highest Test score. He had posted an unbeaten 31 off 106 balls against Sri Lanka at Galle in July 2010.

·  Ben Hilfenhaus (4/57) has produced his best ever bowling performance in Tests.

·  Sachin Tendulkar became the first player from the sub-continent to register 5,000 runs for a winning cause, aggregating 5126 (average 66.57), including 19 hundreds and 19 fifties, in 58 Tests.

·  Ricky Ponting (8314), Steve Waugh (6460), Matthew Hayden (6154), Jacques Kallis (5390), Justin Langer (5229) and Sachin Tendulkar (5126) are the leading batsmen for a winning cause.

·  India’s 216 for nine is their seventh highest fourth innings successful chase.

·  Under Ponting’s captaincy, Australia has lost four Tests out of six played in India. He is yet to post a win on Indian soil as the remaining two Tests could not produce results.

·  Ponting’s tally of four defeats in India is the highest by any Australian captain, eclipsing Mark Taylor’s tally of 3 in 4 Tests.

·  Ponting became the first Australian captain to lose five Tests against India. The fifth lost came in Perth in 2008.

·  He enjoys a winning percentage of 20.00 against India – two wins out of 10 played. The remaining three could not produce results.

·  Zaheer Khan has been adjudged the Man of the Match for the fifth time in Tests - his second against Australia.

·  Zaheer has received just two Man of the Match awards in India, both times against Australia. He had first got the MOM award against Australia for making 57 not out and capturing six wickets in the 2008-09 Bangalore Test.

·  India’s exciting one-wicket win is their fifth in eight Tests in 2010 (Lost 2 and Drawn 1) – a winning percentage of 62.50.

·  India had beaten Australia twice by two wickets – at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai in 1964-65 and at Chepauk, Chennai in 2000-01.

·  Overall, in Test annals, twelve wins have been registered by one-wicket margin.
