South African cricketer Nel attempts suicide

Former South African pacer Andre Nel allegedly attempted suicide on Friday, a report said.

Nel resorted to the extreme step after his alleged extra-marital affairs were exposed recently. The temperamental Protea cricketer allegedly had affairs with two English women while playing for Surrey in England.

He is now reported out of danger and is being looked after by a team of doctors.

Nel and his wife Deanne Weitz have been married for six years and are expecting their first child in April.

He took retirement from international cricket due to the alleged discriminatory policies in South African cricket. He had a troubled past with numerous on-filed spats with various cricketers. He had an exchange with Indian pacer S. Sreesanth as well.
